CNN —Jay Leno has been discharged from the hospital after sustaining burn injuries in a gasoline fire about nine days ago. Jay Leno with staff of the Grossman Burn Center on Monday. He has undergone two surgical procedures to treat his injuries, Dr. Peter Grossman, his physician, previously announced. “Jay would like to let everyone know how thankful he is for the care he received, and is very appreciative of all of the well wishes,” the hospital added in their statement.
CNN —Jay Leno has undergone one surgery for his burn injuries and will undergo a second procedure later this week, according to his physician. “When got pulled out from the area underneath the car, it was noted that he had pretty significant burns to face and hands,” he said. “His burns include his face, his hands, and his chest, the burns are fairly significant,” Grossman noted. His injuries are a mixture of second-degree and possibly some third-degree burns, according to Grossman. Right now they’re in that progression of somewhere between deep second and third-degree burns to the face.
CNN Business —About 48,000 academic employees across the University of California system walked off the job Monday morning, demanding higher pay and improved working conditions, according to the union representing them. Striking workers include researchers, graduate student researchers and instructors, trainees, fellows, and others who provide academic support across the University of California’s 10 campuses. The United Auto Workers union represents these academic employee groups who want transportation subsidies and pay that matches housing costs. The UAW, which has been negotiating since Spring 2021, alleges the University of California has taken unlawful actions such as bypassing the bargaining process and making unilateral decisions. The University of California said on its website that it “strongly disagree[s] with the UAW allegations that UC has engaged in unlawful behavior.

CNN —The Los Angeles Police Department identified a suspect and arrested two other people in connection with the fatal shooting of rapper PnB Rock earlier this month. Freddie Lee Trone was identified “as being a person involved” in the killing of the rapper, according to a LAPD news release. The fatal shooting of PnB Rock took place September 12 while the rapper and his girlfriend were eating at Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles on West Manchester Avenue, according to LAPD Chief Michel Moore. PnB Rock “had an extensive amount of jewelry and other valuables,” Moore said. Between 2016 and 2019, PnB Rock had eight songs on the Billboard Hot 100, four of which were in 2019.
